Figured I would be safe ordering a Kitchen Aid as my parents have owned one for years and never had problems. However I have had nothing but problems since mine was installed. From drain issues to thin ice. I have been lead in circles with service appointments and customer service and no one seems to think there is a problem when I know the unit is not suppose to be making thin ice like mine is. Very unhappy with result of my situation as they are blaming my water pressure and water quality for the issue and my refrigerator has no problems making ice.

If you are reading this you probably already know that a under-the-counter icemakers can be a nightmare. So when it was time to get our 3rd one, I decided to dive into learning more about them myself. I read up on EVERYTHING. When i picked the KitchenAid I read ALL the instructions! The install, the repairs, the parts list and the care and up-keep. And, KitchenAid was there to answer all my question and concerns. So, I installed it myself! Now, I LOVE knowing exactly how to manage and care for my Favorite appliance! Thank you KitchenAid, I'm a huge fan' ~Connie

Failed after a year

I purchased this based on the KA reputation. It failed after a year. Fortunately under warranty. But after another year of in shop repairs, it continued to become inoperative with only weeks of operation. Finally gave up. Never again.

Makes great ice, quantity and quality, but makes a little noise when compared to the last ice maker we had (Edge Star Model IB450SSP). Paid more than desired but most importantly it's consistently working. We don't have to reset it every week which is an absolute pleasure.
