You're probably buying this microwave if you're buying other cafà appliances and you want everything the match. It's fine as far as microwaves go, the dial is a little quirky. Nothing it does sticks out or is way more special than the next, other than having a brass handle that matches my range and refrigerator handles. There isn't a lot to get excited about, which is why it's rated three stars. I'm not sure what a microwave should be doing to make you rate at five stars. Get it if you need it, don't go out of your way to get it.

Just bought the GE cafe 30™€ slide in oven. I am so disappointed in this purchase. A big negative for me is the timer does not show up anywhere. When you set the timer, it will go off when done, but you can™€™t see the countdown. The smudge proof is not smudge proof. When the oven is set to a temperature the actual temperature is 25 degrees lower. I do not recommend GE cafe appliances.

Cheaply made

I feel that the cafe microwave is not built as good as the cafe microwave it replaced. The door does not feel as heavy (solid) as the previous one I owned and the interior design doesn™€™t looks cheaply made. The prior one I owned when you opened the door it was all stainless steel. There were no ™€œbowls™€ in the bottom design just one platform of stainless steel. A nicer finish. Wish my old one didn™€™t stop working. The new one is cheaply made.

This is the worst microwave I™€™ve ever owned. Every morning I microwave a burrito for 90 seconds™€"half comes out molten lava while the other half is still frozen solid. The inconsistency is unbelievable for a $1,200 appliance. Defrost mode is especially awful. On other microwaves, you can enter the item and weight and the machine calculates time and power correctly. My last $35 Sunbeam handled this flawlessly™€"never scorched the edges or left frozen spots. The Cafà microwave, on the other hand, always ruins food. It has never once defrosted a chicken breast without burning the edges while leaving the center frozen. It™€™s incredibly frustrating to spend this much money on a microwave that performs worse than the cheapest alternatives. The only positive: it looks nice

Not a good value / does not feel refined

Installation was ok. @GECAFE- can GE just settle on a standard bracket and power cord location ? All the microwaves are basically the same dimensions eventually it™€™s going to force me to new cabinets as the holes are different but very close. Also- the rear template wasn™€™t remotely aligned to the bracket holes- off by a quarter inch or more. Also eliminate the end user having to trim the template. Re controls- still adjusting to the dial. I do prefer numbers. Also the sensitivity of the buttons SUCKS. takes a lot of pressure. Does not feel like a mid/ high end microwave at all - the glass turn table wobbles terribly - what is the parts tolerance??? Only purchased to match other appliances. Would recommend go elsewhere especially for the price.

Manually using the dial for time/power settings is somewhat awkward. Great experience so far and we have really enjoyed the suite of GE Cafe products that we own.

Terrible design! There's no number pad -- instead there's a dial which seems completely antiquated. You turn the dial to your desired cooking time, then have to push the dial to confirm the time and then have to push the dial yet AGAIN (or hit "start") to finally start cooking. In addition, you can only set the cooking time in 15 second intervals. I should have read the reviews prior to purchasing -- instead I purchased it solely because it matched my oven.

Underwhelming Cafe Microwave

Microwave is underpowered (1000W) and controls are overly fussy. Sensor settings have yet to be used while waiting for a replacement steam sensor which failed straight out of the box. Service was responsive and easy to schedule but without the necessary part on hand didn't do much good. Still waiting 3 weeks later for the part and a return visit from service.

Great operation and functionality

So far we really like the power of the unit. It does a great job quickly cooking anything we've needed. The controls including automatic functions have worked well also. Reheat, beverage, popcorn, etc all do what one would expect. The installation was straightforward and everything fit well. The templates were very helpful. We like the feel of the microwave as well. Especially the door feels very well built and refined in the closing/opening mechanism. We like the dial as well. It becomes intuitive once using it for a few times. Some things that could use improvement... 1. There should be a dimmer function for the display. It is much too bright. It's so bright that we don't set the clock on the unit because it is intrusively bright into our space. Our room is adjacent to the kitchen and we like a dark sleeping environment which this intrudes on. 2. The counter lighting underneath the microwave could be better. Two light locations rather than one would be nice.

I am so disappointed in this microwave. It has no suction or pull force to get odor out. The fans have three stages and they all are weak. Yes, I plan to get rid of it asap. We purchased the cafe refrigerator ( double door freezer on the bottom) and the range as well. I had a ring on the electric range within a month. They came out and the only remedy was to replace the glass cover. I did not agree, it™€™s brand new. Get the gas if you have to have it. I am scrubbing everyday after cooking to keep it looking nice. Have not purchase the dishwasher and I don™€™t think I will. The OTC microwave is a waste of money. I am telling you the truth, it™€™s weak. All appliances were purchased from Home Depot. Wasted lots of money. The appliances looks pretty think beyond pretty. So, so disappointed.

Very pretty, beautiful even. But not worth the money if you want to use it. Doesn't function as an exhaust at all. Apparently over the range microwaves typically do not work well as exhaust fans. Thanks Ferguson for the heads up. My smoke alarm will goes off every time I cook. I had to remove my smoke alarm. When I boil water the touch screen freezes because the vent doesn't do its job. What is the point? And why are touch screens en vogue. They stink. I had to call a professional to show me how to use the power setting feature. He had to call someone else since he couldn't figure it out either. That visit cost me $145. I would return this if I could but it's too late.

The microwave works fine but, I really hate the dial. It is a hit or miss (mostly miss) if the dial will work with ease. Most times I can change the time to cook but it is very hard to push the dial in to start. Mostly I have to pull out the dial to try to push to start. Total design flaw!!

After 2 years popcorn feature won™€™t work. Then the following year when choosing reheat error keeps coming up sensor error. Tried the unplug for five minutes but still issues. That™€™s a $165 part. For the money we spent on GE Cafe appliances I have never had more problems. I keep looking to see if they come up as lemons or at least the particular ones I have.

Stopped working after a couple years,

We renovated our kitchen less than 3 years ago, bought all the cafe appliances. Love the look but the microwave stopped heating up food. As much as you pay for them I expected it to be a better quality. My cheap countertop microwave has been going strong for 10+ years now. Very disappointed in the quality.

Heats up food quickly and works well. Finding the different settings was a bit more difficult than other microwaves I have used.

Still getting used to the general operation but so far it's good. Getting used to have to turn a dial for cooking time rather than pushing buttons to set cooking time. That said, isn't it usually the digital buttons that go out first and need repair on a unit?
